Telebras informed that it does not intend to participate in the conciliation hearing with Via Direta scheduled for this Friday (22/6). The company claims that it was not formally summoned to participate in the hearing and that it only found out about it through the press.
The hearing was scheduled by judge Jaiza Maria Pinto Freixe, from the 1st Federal Civil Court of Amazonas, in response to a request from Via Direta, a company contesting an agreement between the state-owned company and the North American satellite company Viasat. In May, Via Direta filed a lawsuit contesting the contract and obtained an injunction suspending the agreement.
At the center of the dispute is the B2B Lead contract for the full capacity of the Ka Band of the Brazilian Geostationary Defense and Strategic Communications Satellite SGDC-1, belonging to Telebras, to be explored by Viasat, a 100% foreign company, so that it can offer services and equipment that guarantee access to quality broadband internet throughout the national territory.
To try to resolve the dispute, Via Direta asked for a conciliation hearing to be scheduled, which was accepted by the judge, who scheduled the meeting for this Friday. However, Telebras stated that it will not participate in this meeting.

In a statement, the state-owned company points out that it found out about the hearing through the press and that it cannot make any decision without first taking the issue to the company's Board of Directors. Therefore, he asks that a new hearing be scheduled, after June 28th, when the council will meet.
In the note, Telebras highlights that it is not opposed to participating in the conciliation hearing with Via Direta and reaffirms its commitment to complying with the decisions and collaborating with the Judiciary so that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible.
